Midjourney has its artistic style, and so does Flux. If you’re not careful when creating content, it’s easy to produce homogeneous styles. This can easily cause audiences to develop aesthetic fatigue with AI artistic styles. We need to fight against this homogeneity to create memorable works.
My novels have been described as having strong personal characteristics, to the point where readers need to invest considerable effort to keep up. Still, once they do, they become irresistibly hooked. So, no matter how much criticism I receive, I will not change the personal style of my novels because writing a good story isn’t even the most important thing – having personal characteristics is.
My WeChat account will also maintain this artistic style. I don’t want to be just another account sharing AI technical details because there are already many such accounts. I want something more special. I like experiences that only the Computational Universe can provide.
Speaking of the Computational Universe, it’s a worldview IP, not a tech blog. I’m sharing my experiences in the process of developing this IP. The stories within the Computational Universe should be written as stories, and the process of creating the Computational Universe is itself an exciting narrative—one that allows more people to participate in the creative process.
What makes the Computational Universe special? How is it different from Star Trek? In terms of storytelling, it’s more like “Stellaris” – it lacks Star Trek’s classical values and may not be as hardcore as Star Trek. It incorporates superhero elements into space science fiction, along with some myths about inter-civilizational conflicts.
What would make your AI creations truly memorable? The term “personal characteristics” is asking who you are. What makes you different from others? Although we’ve been educated from childhood to embrace collectivism and sometimes trained to conform, this is the moment that tests a person’s uniqueness.
Creators who can produce works with personal characteristics must possess their personality, persistence, and even their prejudices. It’s not about having a big ego but rather a kind of confidence that radiates from within. You must sincerely believe in who you are so that your aesthetics shaped by your circumstances can show their difference with an overwhelming advantage.
I excel at writing about superheroes, especially in exploring the complex and painful aspects of their lives. Even the most powerful superheroes have their weaknesses. Your weaknesses make you seem more relatable and human. Are you willing to face the imperfect aspects of yourself? This may be part of your distinctive personal characteristics.
This personal uniqueness isn’t something you can achieve by simply accumulating trivial daily life. Some things are worth expressing, others are not. What you most deeply desire to express requires some serious soul-searching.
When creating works, I most believe in a quote from Asimov: “I believe that the fight against ignorance will eventually triumph.” My stories all revolve around humanity’s struggle against ignorance as their underlying theme. This is the main thread of my expression, and unwavering determination is the persistence that drives my belief.
This is what I believe in the depths of my soul, from which many stories that must be written emerge. So, if you’re also looking for the foundation of your expression, why not quiet down and, facing the notes on your computer, list what you believe in? Personality lies within this kind of firm belief.
Sometimes, you even need to strip away several layers of self to find the beliefs that truly supported you along the way. This is a paradox: having personal characteristics requires both selfhood and selflessness. It is inherently contradictory. Grasping the center of this contradiction allows you to find a unique feeling.
If a person is different from others, then they will inevitably face exclusion from a certain number of people. This is the price you need to know when creating distinctive personal characteristics. Our world has too many systems that reward conformity, while non-conformity unless taken to the extreme, will continuously face suppression.
So, will you choose possible suppression?
Will you abandon your perfection, endure possible exclusion, and choose the most difficult but essential personal expression? In this regard, courage even comes before wisdom. Many people would not make such a choice, so few remain. If you are among these few, you naturally possess uniqueness.
Changing the world is the ultimate dream of many tech entrepreneurs, but the world often presents resistance and doesn’t always allow everyone to effect change. Making your expression distinctively personal also has resistance, which I call a kind of gravity. Nothing comes without a price, especially uniqueness.
